Last Day is Over
Well, the Day of the Dead Festival in Ottawa has come and gone for another year. For the first time, LightHunter Creations was a vendor for the event. In fact, it was the very first event for LightHunter Creations.

Having worked this event in different capacities, I know how the weather can be at this time of year (end of October/beginning of November). It can get nasty. But we’ve been lucky. It was cold and windy on Saturday, the first day as a vendor, but also mostly sunny. Sunday (today), it was wonderfully sunny all day, and the wind was not as much of an issue.

Good friend and former work colleague, Connie Cole, spent a great part of her weekend helping me out, and took the above photo on Saturday.
One of the things I like about the festival is meeting new artists. (It was also one of the great things about my career with the City of Ottawa.) This year, meeting Rino and having his work in the festival was great.

Anyway, it’s always nice when someone is willing to part with some of their hard-earned funds so they can take your work home. It’s a good feeling to know you have connected with someone in that way. You made something. The result strikes a chord with someone else.

Taylor and LHC are a great combination.
So, what’s next for LHC? Well, there’s the part-time job waiting tomorrow morning, but there was lots learned this festival weekend that will influence this continuing journey. I definitely want to do this event again next year, and I may do one or two others. But I have to chart a very broad course now, get working on new Day of the Dead pieces and I’ll play with some other ideas I have. Of course, presenting the work is always a work-in-progress. I like to play with the booth design, and I see lots of potential if I can get into one of these metal boxes in the ByWard Market again. Please see the LightHunter Creations Facebook page for more details from this past weekend.
